Tightening torque
Valving machine M103-xxx
The setting of the tightening torque changes very little over the years. Once set, it basically holds the setting year after year. Measurements of the setting and its deviation has been found to be as small as a few percent (at most) even after a ten-year period. Regardless, for optimal and safe usage, the torque value setting shall be checked regularly. It is recommended to use the RONNING tools:
Inspection using this type of torque meter M131-416-007 as shown in the photograph here requires a great deal of skill if the result is to be correct.
Follow these three simple steps for correct maintenance and setting:
1. The speed is of great significance. When tightening a valve at too low speed, it is possible to overturn a new valve by as much as half a rotation without exceeding the recommended torque setting.
2. Overtightening with about 45°, results in an increased force from about 20 to 100 Nm.
3. The torque wrench must always be perpendicular to the gas cylinder. If canted, the resulting error can be about 20 Nm.
